Established
in 2006, the Community Partnership for Egg Harbor Township Schools,
Inc. is a 501(c)(3)non-profit public charity dedicated to providing
financial support to Egg Harbor Township Public Schools.
The
designation as a Regional Growth Area by the NJ State Pinelands
Commission and the introduction of casino gambling in nearby Atlantic
City combined to create the perfect storm of overpopulation in Egg
Harbor Township.
As a result, approximately 300 new students have
enrolled in Egg Harbor Township Schools every year for the past ten
years, class sizes are dangerously large, academic
programs and services are being dropped by budgetary constraints, and
students are falling through the cracks.
The Community Partnership for Egg Harbor Township Schools, Inc. was founded to help address the financial shortfalls that overpopulation and cuts in State aid to public schools have created, and to provide private funds to enhance and expand educational programs.
Funds raised are used to directly support the schools and students in a continuing effort to achieve educational excellence in Egg Harbor Township.
A
Board of dedicated directors manages the foundation. The Board
includes representation from caring community members, business men
and women, and school district employees and members of the Board of
Education who volunteer their time to raise money for the Egg Harbor
Township School District.
The foundation has
provided funds for capital projects, academic programs,
extra-curricular activities, technology and performing arts.
The Community Partnership is proud of the strong working relationship it has built with the Egg Harbor Township Board of Education. As an independent organization, Community Partnership Board members work closely with district leaders to assess the needs of the student body and develop a coordinated response to those needs by sharing resources and ideas, developing joint goals and objectives, and maintaining an open lines of communication.
